Welcome

 We are delighted to welcome your family to Cobham Free School. As an all-through school, we know our children from their first day in Reception to the day they leave us in Year 13. It is a privilege to watch them grow and thrive during their time with us.

If you have visited us on an open day, you will already know what I say first and mean most: nothing matters more than your child being safe here. Whether they join us at 4 or at 16, being known, valued and belonging is our starting point. Whatever a child's background, starting point or needs, they should feel safe, be fully included, access every lesson and play a full part in the life of the school - not in principle, but every single day. Children learn when they feel they belong, and we work hard to make sure each one does.

We are also ambitious for every child, and we make no apology for it. Our curriculum is challenging by design, our teaching is rigorous, and we hold high expectations of conduct, effort and kindness. Clear boundaries and high aspirations are not the opposite of a caring school - they are part of what makes one.

We are proud of our academic outcomes at every stage. From phonics screening, through KS2 and GCSE and on to A-level, our results sit consistently above national averages and have continued to rise year on year. Behind every one of those grades is a young person who was supported, stretched and expected to do well.

Those results are a stepping stone, not a destination. What we want is for our students to leave us ready for university, apprenticeships and employment. Articulate, curious, resilient and kind, they will leave confident that they have something to contribute and be able to drop in a few Latin phrases along the way.
